Poor Spatial Judgment

We got the new furniture in. We still have the old furniture in as well. I believe this to be a glitch in my plan. Today, while Joan worked and Katie visited, Dave did the furniture shuffle. The old dining room table is in the living room. Consider it a very tall coffee table. We do. The filing cabinet that has squatted in the corner of the dining serving as a semblance of organization within, and a catch-all upon, has also moved to the living room. Consider a side table. It's a stretch, but you did so well with the coffee table thing just now, I'm sure you can do this. The "Hunt Board" thingy that held all the china and whatnot is now in the living room too. Consider it a ..., oh who knows? It's still a "Hunt Board" thingy. It still holds whatnot, but the better china pieces have moved to justify our purchase of the two china cabinets. Are you wondering what was in the living room before all this shuffling? Oddly enough, it seemed full.

A computer armoire in the TV room--a hand-me-down from a friend who had enough sense not to take it in one of his recent moves--was an outlet for frustration today. It has been removed from the house, and from any further use, using only a dolly and a sledgehammer. Ahhh. That's better. The sofa went from the living room to the TV room. A wooden bench we purchased a couple of years ago is now on the front porch. I'll be catching hell for that shortly, I'm sure. To date, it has provided as likely a seating space as the top of the file cabinet. The odds of it being sat upon are now vastly improved. A matching side cabinet/lamp table/storehouse for doggy accessories also moved around the corner into the Grand Foyer. Between that and the piano that is only played by guests, one can just manage to get by from the front door to the kitchen. And finally, three dining room chairs (the old ones) are now placed around the house, two in a vacated corner of the living room and one in the TV room. It's not enough. Three more dining room chairs (still the old ones) are on the covered deck tonight. I simply ran out of steam. There is a slim chance that we can clean up a bit before our guests arrive tomorrow evening. They'll have no idea how much moving around has been done, but that's just as well.

So...does anybody need a REALLY tall coffee table?
