Ice, Ice Baby
I had two interesting calls today. The first came while I was at work. The caller claimed that her purse was in her drawer--at work--and that her keys were in her purse. She went on to say that her car (the one that matched the keys in her purse) was in the driveway. And that none of this changed the fact that she had a 10am meeting. Her attendance at said meeting depended heavily upon my retrieving her purse and delivering it to her at her home.
I happen to like this person. A lot. So I got her purse and took it to her home. Fortunately, it is my home as well. Having re-established my credentials as a white knight driving a crimson warhorse, I turned around and began the trek back to work. En route, I continually looked in my rearview mirror to be sure she was following. No dice. Then I received a call. She was spinning her tires on our iced-over driveway.
Meanwhile, back at the house ...
You know, it's difficult to push a car on ice. A man--even a good-looking, burly man in tennis shoes--is at a distinct disadvantage when trying to gain sufficient purchase to push a car that outweighs him (even if only by a slim margin). The fact that I was pushing uphill didn't seem to be in my favor either.
Clifford to the rescue! One chain and a shift into 4WD later, we hooked up to Sven (Joanie's car) and pulled him around. After that, I drove Sven down the access road and trudged up the icy drive to bring Clifford down as well. Now everybody is happy. We just hope everything melts today and doesn't freeze over again tonight.
Happy driving, everybody.
